Executive Chef Rick Ohlemacher leads the kitchen at Husk Charleston with a focus on collaboration, mentorship, and sourcing the best Southern ingredients. Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, his earliest memories of food come from his grandparents’ garden and Sunday family meals, where he learned to appreciate the connection between ingredients and community.
Ohlemacher began his career at Barcelona Restaurant in Columbus before moving to Chicago, where he cooked in several acclaimed kitchens, most notably the Michelin-starred GreenRiver. In 2019, he relocated to Charleston and joined the Husk team in April 2022, working under the guidance of Executive Chef Raymond England. That mentorship proved pivotal, preparing him to eventually step into the executive chef role.
At Husk Charleston, Ohlemacher oversees everything from ingredient sourcing and menu development to motivating his team and shaping the restaurant’s culinary vision. For him, the thrill of the restaurant industry lies in the camaraderie of his team and the energy of a busy service, where hard work and creativity culminate in memorable dining experiences.
Outside the kitchen, Ohlemacher is a devoted husband and father of two who enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, and keeping up with his energetic coonhound puppy.
